WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS?
Corinne: I was a cannabis coach! I had already started a successful cannabis and health blog and I wanted to help people solve the problems that they were emailing me about. I couldn’t handle opening up my inbox to see someone else suffering and try to help them with tips and recipes. I knew that I wanted to do more and help people in a deeper way. But after I started, I was struggling to get out of the gate. I started working with Niki and less than a year after becoming a coach, I was hosting private retreats, doing group programs and coaching 1 on 1 with really incredible clients.
Niki: I’ve been coaching coaches and other entrepreneurs for about 2 years now and really found my passion in this work. I spent years dabbling in other entrepreneurial pursuits— owned a cafe in Mexico, did some personal chefing, health coaching— before I settled into this work supporting others start their dreams! I know what it’s like, the fear and uncertainty that holds us back from living our dreams, and knew I was meant to help people break through those limits! Corinne was looking for that support, and choose me as her coach and mentor. As she grew CCI and saw all that it was becoming, she asked me to join her in creating a comprehensive coach training program for the cannabis industry! And so here we are!
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO CREATE THIS PROGRAM?
Corinne: I didn’t decide so much as I was forced by the universe to create CCI. As soon as I started cannabis coaching, my Wake + Bake readers wanted to know what I was doing and if I would show them how to do it too. In a heart to heart with Niki, I realized that I couldn’t do all of this work on my own. So many people needed help and that more coaches needed to be trained to work with others in this way. And then I asked her if she was in…
Niki: As I saw what Corinne was creating, and realized through our work together that cannabis was seriously changing peoples lives (my own included), I knew that I had to bring the power of mindset work to the industry. Corinne had created this amazing program around cannabis and wellness, and we both knew that her trainees were going to need to do some serious internal work to really step into the role of leader and coach, so it made total sense to add that to the training!
TELL ME ABOUT A TIME WHEN THIS WORK MADE YOU FEEL HOPEFUL.
Corinne: The first time a student told us that her client was off her meds and was making incredible progress. That’s when I knew that anyone could coach using our method and that they would get to see results. And that means that more people will get help now. I was like, “Holy shit! It’s working! Cannabis coaches are going to change the world!”
Niki: Oh man, so many times! Hearing stories from our students of how their own lives are changing (not to mention their clients). One of our students was able to stop going to see her therapist thanks to the transformation she has felt through the process of becoming a cannabis coach. I truly believe cannabis is a powerful tool for transformation and to see it in action is incredible.
WHAT ARE THE MOST CHALLENGING AND/OR FUNNIEST MOMENTS YOU’VE EXPERIENCED IN THE COURSE?
Corinne: There are funny moments every time we get together. Our mentorship calls are really lively and honest, and everyone has a working funny bone. We laugh, sometimes we cry. It’s a whole thing. And for challenges, when you’re a coach, you have to meet everyone where they’re at. Sometimes it can be challenging to figure out where that is when you’re not in person, so we really advise that our students submit their work and get on mentorship calls that way we can get to know them and what they’re dealing with and so we know where their strengths are.
Niki: I agree 100% with Corinne. We are always having fun… because if you aren’t having fun, what’s the point?! The students and I have this running joke every time we talk about our laser coaching sessions — they all go “pew-pew” and pretend to shoot lasers from their fingers. So yea, we are a bunch of adults just trying to live the good life.
Challenges happen, no matter where you are in your trajectory as a coach and entrepreneur. The most challenging thing for me is wanting the students to succeed and have them not show up for themselves. The support is there, and the students who show up to our weekly calls are they ones who have the best outcomes.
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR STUDENTS TO REMEMBER YOU?
Corinne: I hope they remember having fun while being so supported and cared for. Cannabis coaching is serious work and I’m here to help you get really good at it, but I believe that people learn more and get over fears easily when they’re having a great time.
Niki: I know the students will remember me most by the loving kick in the ass I like to deliver on most of our mentorship calls (because I know that is often what we need).
WHAT DID YOU THINK YOU WERE GOING TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
Corinne: Hands down… pop star. I had the bangs to prove it.
Niki: I’m a manifestor by nature (according to my human design) and so I’m always coming up with new ideas…. I envisioned being a doctor, a B&B owner, a fashion designer, a generally famous person… basically a badass of some sort or another.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CANNABIS EXPERIENCE LIKE?
Corinne: I don’t remember my first cannabis experience, but I do remember the first time I walked into a party where people were smoking it. I yelled, “it smells like incense in here!” And that’s how I found out that many of my family members were cannabis users.
Niki: I remember when I was in 7th grade, one night I was home watching TV and I smelled something funny coming from my brothers bathroom. So I snuck into the room and got down on my hands and knees to sniff under the door (hahah I’m a creep, I know) and then decided to knock and ask him what he was doing. He let me in and showed me the joint he had rolled using Trident gum wrappers and asked if I wanted some. I declined at the time, but that was my first introduction to it. I think a year or two later I tried smoking with my friends and got super stoned and at an entire roll of Oreo cookies.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE PROGRAM?
Corinne: My favorite part of the program is the cannabis coaching intensive. It’s amazing to watch the program work on our students while they’re practicing it. They become skilled coaches and completely different people when they come out the other side. It’s inspiring!
Niki: My favorite part of the program is the weekly mentorship call. I love hearing the students celebrate their wins, both personal and in business. It is seriously one of the best parts of my week!
WHAT WINS HAVE BEEN THE MOST EXCITING SINCE YOU STARTED THIS PROGRAM?
Corinne: Every single time one of our students gets their first client it might as well be Mardi Gras. I want to pop champagne and squeal. And sometimes, we do that.
Niki: I agree with Corinne. When our students celebrate getting their first client, it’s a big deal. Everyone in the community is geniuenly stoked for them! And Corinne and I just LOVE watching our students take off both personally and professionally.
